Happy Birthday America!

Macy's 4th Of July 2010 Fireworks, Grand Finale

Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is one of my favorite holidays in the United States because it commemorates the birth of the United States. It is the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Memories of my Fourth of July celebrations are thrilling and inspiring…full of heroes and their deeds.

There are many traditions that I associate with the Fourth of July such as fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, picnics, baseball games as well as political events and ceremonies celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States.

This past weekend, my family participated in a Fourth of July parade. We also went to St. Charles to view the fireworks, which were amazing!

Hello World…this is my first blog! :-)

Hello, my name is Monica and I am a recovering perfectionist. They say the first step to recovery is acknowledgment. I hereby publicly acknowledge that I am a perfectionist and am on my way to recovery. What may seem like a simple task to some becomes an endless web of thoughts and processes to me. I am very passionate about what I do and always strive to do everything to the best of my ability.

People have asked me for years to start a blog but honestly, I didn't think I had the time. I imagined myself doing extensive research in order to write the perfect blog. I am also the type of person that would rather be doing it than writing about it.

My thoughts go back to the day when my friend asked me to help her design a playhouse for her daughters. I was so excited as I quickly began my sketch, which soon became known as the new and improved Taj Mahal. After some time I came to the realization that these little girls simply wanted a place to play and that my extreme measures were unnecessary.

Therefore, my journey begins…

I want to share little tidbits of my life experiences with you, my fellow bloggers and friends. Life is short and full of amazing discoveries.

If there is something in your life that you have put off starting, make today the first day of your journey.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy my future blogs!

Monica :-)
